I've been checking out this site quite a bit this season and figured I should join. So I just started hunting a few weeks ago. I have been twice now in the WIA plots south of Brush. Flushed gutie a few the first time, but they either went into private lands or I just flat out missed. Secong time the only things I saw were a jack rabbit and an owl. I was wondering if there were any suggestions out there. I am thinking of going to Sedgewick this Thursday. I hunt alone and my dogs are no good. My german shepard is afraid of guns and our Aussie is deaf. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help and I look forward to a lifetime of fun in the fields.

Welcome to the forum. Sedgwick County definitely offers more birds and hunting alone can sometimes be very benefecial especially if you employ run & gun tactics (pulling up quickly and quietly and entering a field very fast) and also making the long walks to areas that others might dismiss due to intimidating walking distances. Also, get yourself a bird dog! :) Makes hunting fun even when you're not getting birds.

Thanks for the tips. My fiance wants to join me on a hunt on thursday in sedgewick. She doesn't have a license, but isn't shooting. We may take our Aussie, but he is deaf so we will see how he fairs (he does have a hunting colar for calling him). My German Shepard is afraid of guns, so he is no good for hunting. I would loive a bird dog, but I think we are a few years out as our two dogs are young.
