hat required or no in PA?

first of all its not nonsense. im sure im not the first and the only person to ever ask this question. and im sure information provided on this thread will answer questions to future askers who google the question. o and btw maybe you should shut the phuck up.

also odds are i'll hunt on somewhere along route 209. not dead set on that spot yet, maybe on route 434. but i will be in pike county for sure because they got more pheasants stocked than anywhere else near me. i'll be fighting the crowds tomorrow for sure though.

100 miles or so from Philly and NYC...likely will be some WCOs, crowds and New Jerseyites......I'd wear an orange ball cap and shelf the attitudes on caps, city folks and the PGC.
Enjoy the important parts of the day...Life's short.

It's a rich life when the big problem in a person's life is "do I have to wear a hat like everyone else in the state?"

Be safe, have fun.

You had better re-read that. It states a minimum of 250 square inches, a combination of , now pay attention: HEAD, CHEST, and Back. Even shows a picture/drawing with the orange on the head.

It says - "A minimum of 250 square inches on head, chest and back, combined, visible 360 degrees"

The actual code is PA Title 34, Chapter 25, Section 2524
Sec. 2524. Protective material required.
(a) General rule.--Unless further restricted by regulations of the commission, every person hunting for or assisting to hunt for deer, bear or woodchucks shall wear either a minimum of 250 square inches of daylight fluorescent orange-colored material on the back and front combined or, in lieu thereof, a hat of the same color material. The material shall be worn so it is visible in a 360-degree arc. Unless otherwise specified by regulations of the commission, the provision of this section shall not apply to any season for using muzzle-loading firearms only or season for using bows and arrows only.
(b) Penalty.--A violation of this section is a summary offense of the fifth degree.

The actual regulation which restricts the above law - Sec 141.20 - states nearly identical wording to the "head, chest and back, combined,"

O.K. The link in your original post did not state all of this. But let me say this. I have been rabbit and pheasant hunting on PA state game lands since 1984. Just let the game warden catch you in the field hunting upland game without the orange cap/hat and see what happens. You might be able to beat it in court, but it is not worth the trouble/consequences. Just wear the damn hat. I don't see what the problem is with wearing one any how. Making a mountain out of a mole hill!
