It was one of those special October mornings, you know the kind that bird dogs and bird hunters wait for all year. If you inhale deeply you can smell the dying vegation of mixed hardwoods, that bring back memories.
We allways get to the area where we are going to hunt before shooting time, often in the dark just to take it all in . While waitng we saw a couple of woodcock fly bye and heard a rooster cackle in the distance.
It's been a great season so far and today was no different. Dugan got scent almost as soon as i released him and we had a rooster in the bag. He is really on his game this year and when he locks on it's fly or face him. Most decide to fly. We had our birds early again and I unloaded and watched him work as we headed back to the truck.
I decided to give him a break today, and as I type this he is giving me that come on look! They love this as much as we do!
