Hey Guys, just wanted to let you all know my son went and picked up the wirehair in South Dakota. I got him from a friend of Birdman. He a little skinny but my son is working on that. He will take him to the vet on Wed for a check up and shots. I will pick him up first week in June. This was all made possible because of this site and the great people.

Thanks again Coach D

Congrats on the new dog, I hope it gives you a lot of fun and companionship.........Bob

Im happy i could help you out. he looks of great color and patterns. yah he does look skinny and was very shy when i met him. however, the owner said he had been missing for a few days and thats why he was skinny. but after your care, im sure he'll be in better shape.

not bad for a FREE dog. usually GWP and GSP are pricy dogs!! glad i could work it out for you.

the guy you got it from is a cousin of my high school buddy and thats how i knew he breed GWPs and asked. so you got a heck of a bargin of a FREE dog and on top of that, hes a little over a year old so you got a long way to go with him.

once he breaks his shyness, you'll have a great dog. he wasnt obnoxious so thats a good thing. he didnt try to defend himself when he was shy so hes good around kids. he wanted attention. hes gonna be a good dog.

I too adopted a very shy, underweight GWP a couple years back. We put some pounds on him and fed him even more love. He's the best dog I have in terms of a pet and always seems to come out ahead on bird count when in the field. He's the most loyal companion a guy could have. Only problem is, he loves mud puddles and nasty ponds (yes, lagoons of any kind) as much as he loves me. He's a dirty dude no matter where we go or what we're doing, but he really gets down to business out in the field. On top of all this, he's a swimming machine. If my Duke dog is typical of the breed, he's the first of many I'll own in my life/bird hunting days.
