well first off i hope this was the correct area to put this thread in, and if it isn't let me apologize now. But besides that recently ive been thinking about buying a gun safe, i've looked at a few brands, stack on, liberty, cannon and field and stream. i think the liberty and cannon safes have quality to them, and im looking in the 1200 dollar range. but i figured i would get opinions here, and hopefully not cause an uproar. i just need a decent safe to keep the guns safe, and keep some spare change in. i like how the cannons have the 110v outlets built into them. also i cannot go too big on a safe, because when a safe comes in the house, it will need to go through a crowded laundry room, or through the sliding glass door in the dining room, which the parentals will NOT let happen. then it has to make its way to my room, and into my closet. so the biggest width possible is 30 inches, and thats if i take the door trim off lol. and now here is the biggest damn killer, my dad has been whining that we need a gun safe, i almost bought a liberty at gander mountain, he cried it weighed too much for our 12" floor joists, and now hes crying i need one again so it looks like i'm gonna buy one soon, to keep everybody happy. so anyway, input is welcome.

Something else to think about. How are you going to anchor the safe? floor... wall?
To be honest a safe should be anchored to a floor, preferably a concrete floor like in a basement with lag bolt. A small safe left free standing is not going to detract any thieves from just walking the safe out the door on a dolly..
I would get the best safe you can afford and have it anchored properly. Just my 2 cents.

12" floor joists are pretty close. You shouldnt have any problems with any safe thats 30" wide max.
I have this one. Its ok. have had no problems with it. Its not the most well built safe but the price was right and I dont use it as a piece of furniture. Its in the den.

not 12" OC, but 2x12 boards. some houses have 2x8's, most have 2x10's and some have 2x12's. also i do not know if im going to anchor it down, but i figure if someone broke in my house, they would look at my room and laugh, and wouldn't think to check the closet. and the dog would be going nuts, and hes a protective dog, so the big thing about the patriot series cannons is the good fire rating for the money. and the p22 would JUST, squeeze in. id just have to pop some trim off, slip it in, put the trim back on and id be good. but before i buy anything id wanna see it in person before dropping 1400 bucks.
