One foray for duskies near Crested Butte yielded no sightings.

Grouse numbers in my area East of the WI River in NC WI are down again this year. Friends hunting west of Tomahawk are having a blast.
Woodcock are starting to move now. Ran into a migration flock yesterday morning. A good teaching moment for my setter pup, who got so excited he forgot he's supposed to hold point until I come in to flush, not excitedly bust in on them and flush them himself. After about 5-6 of those, he finally held and I killed one for him.
We also ran into a couple grouse, which held tight, but busted out while he was approaching from upwind. A tough weekend weather-wise. Wind and snow all Saturday morning. Almost perfect early Sunday, but then the wind kicked up again.
