Green River conservation area Illinois

Green River Conservation Area

I hunted it once 20+ years ago and have not gone back. If you live closer to Des Plaines and can get out during the middle of the week stick with Des Plaines.

Hunted it, actually walked the dogs there ten years ago. Heard one rooster, saw one covey of quail...no shots. Big place, nice cover

I just received an invite to Green River just this morning. I'll be going out there soon. The gentleman who has the permits said it's nice cover with pen and wild birds.

Sounds like a nice place.:)

Thanks for the info guys. I never made it out there to hunt. My FOID didn't come in time. 45 days and counting. I might miss another one on Saturday. I have 4 permits for des plaines. I don't know why it's taking so long. It's just a renewal.

60 days. What the hell. There is a law that they have to issue it within 30 days. But that is Illinois for you. We have to follow the laws but they don't.

Not only that, but the state is broke, too many tolls, too many taxes, no conceal carry, no pheasant population, or much public land to hunt ...wonder why the hell any of us are still hanging round

We're hanging around because we're imprisoned. Can't sell our homes. We'll loose 1/2 of what we have in it or more:(

Listening to the news this morning on AM radio, it was nothing but "this Illinois politician is being investigated for this or that, corruption charges against this one, that politician's being indicted, another bought his mistress (either) a $20,000 or $40,000 Rolex watch with gov't $." To top it off, our last 2 governors are in prison.

The best part is, we elected them by a land slide regardless!!! What the hell is wrong with this state?

Way too much corruption. Way too much Chicago blue if you know what I mean.

Nice site upland. Thanks for sharing the link. I like the conversation about our unconstitutional FOID card policy here in IL.

The best was when Illinois was going to make FOID card holder's personal information public. The gang bangers would have loved that one. Easy pickings to find who has guns and who doesn't.

I think we are the poster child for what other states DON'T want to become.

okay, I think I have to cool off for awhile.

Thanks for the link. It didn't make me feel any better. They're saying it's taking 60+ days also. I guess no hunting for me this year. I'll have to try and transfer my permits to the end of the season and hope i get it. I'm guessing they got a huge flood of apps because of the election and the guy who won. Anyone think the guys at the controlled pheasant areas would be sympathetic and let me hunt.....?

I wouldn't chance it Kspain. My brother let his FOID expire some years ago. He got caught with 1 12 gauge shot gun shell. Left it in his coat pocket from a SD pheasant hunting trip. They nailed him.

This may not make you feel any better, but a close friend of mine took a golf cart for a joy ride at a country club. Did some damage. Stupid teenage move. He got busted, lost his FOID card "privileges" and hasn't been able to hunt in Illinois since.

He was 18 when he got into some trouble over that golf cart. Today he's 37 years old. Still can't touch a gun, ammo, or hunt here in IL. All because of his dumb move at 18 years old:(

Is there anyway you make a trip to another state? That way you can at least hunt this year.

Just talked to my mother in law. She's a cop. She ran me and said I'm good until 2022. Just no card to prove it. Maybe she can print something out for me. If not at least i know I'm good...in theory. I'm gonna call des plaines tomorrow and see what they say. She sent her app in with mine. No card for her yet either. She's a County sheriff.

Good luck. Hope it all works out.

I suppose your posts are a good thing. Serves as a reminder to check our card expiration! lol

Have a good day Kspain.

Yeah it is partly my fault. I guess i should've known better and sent it in August. But i figured 40+ days would be sufficient...

Is Illinois the only state to require the FOID card, and, the only state without conceal carry? If so, I would think the opposite to be only logical...oh thats right, since when is politics logical?! We live in the state of Chicago.
Another way to generate money for the state

I read somewhere on another forum that NJ had something similar and their process is even worse then ours. But yes the only state without some sort of carry law.

I got the OK from Des Plaines to hunt. Woo-hoo! And they were very nice about it. I was surprised. They're not usually very friendly down there.
