Greater and Lesser PC's

Dad and I are heading near Sylvia to hunt hunt phez/ quail in a few weeks (private land outfitter)..We have a few extra days beforehand to hunt and I wanted to try and bag a prarie chicken to get mounted..

My question is what part of Kansas would be a good area to pursue a Greater PC (just asking areas..no specific honey holes)..

And is it even worth traveling to SW Kansas to try and bag a Lesser PC?..or are they scarce..

Thanks for any tips..and I would like to stress that I am not afraid to get out and hunt public land and "earn" my birds..

PS I use to live in Rapid City, SD and have alot of experience with Sharptails..I assume PC hunting is very similar?

I don't know much about that area but I would talk to your outfitter. They're the ones who are suppose to know where the birds are if they're doing they're job right. Good luck and I'm still waiting on my male Prairie Chicken to fly by and hopefully not get shot up and then mounted with it's sacks puffed out.

The outfitter told me that there were no PC's in the Sylvia area..Since I have a few days to spare dad and I are going to hit the public ground..We can choose any place in the state we wish

There are chickens in that area as I hunt that area all the time. For wih hunt area 141 and go to the very end of the road and park next to the plum thickets. There is a small field of milo right in front of you.and grass lands to the east. Spread out across that fence row to the east next to the milo at day light and you will see birds. Saw a group of about 100 in that field this year. 141 is in Osborne county. What outfitter is in Silvan Grove? I rent a house there called the Lovin Huntin Lodge.

Sorry Josey, coffee has not kicked in yet. You wanted PC around Silvia not Silvan Grove. Heading to the coffee pot now.
