Great hunting

I just returned from north central SD and the hunting was great. Tons of birds around and more roosters than I normally see. The only water was in the low areas that should have water anyways, I wore my hiking boots all week and never got my feet wet (I had 4 pairs of boots and many socks because of all the reports but never needed the extras). It was a very good trip with limits coming early most days and I can't wait till I get back out there for late season.

I forgot to add that as I was driving home they were starting to hit the beans in a few places. The corn where I was hunting was still at 30% and up to 40% moisture in some places. When we dried ours we would pull it out in the low 20's so it is going to be a while since the farm I hunt doesn't dry theirs.

Thanks for the report on your trip to South Dakota. Were you hunting by yourself, small group or a large group? Also were you hunting on public or private lands?

where in north central s.d. where you hunting as I was considering the Leopla area and was wondering how wet it was in the area. I do not need the exact town just wondering how it is around the Leola area if you know
thanks

BB, I hunted myself the last couple hours of each day but with others earlier in the day. There were 4 of us, I would always be walking and picked up many birds during the pushes. Our more effective ones were short ones through wind blocks. We were mostly private land but also some public, I picked up 2 birds on my way home on public land.

It looked like some pretty good hunting around Leola, I might be going there next year. If anything it would be a good base camp, lots of public land around there.
