@BleuBijou (Chad) - We were directly on the other side of that Continental Divide ridge from you & got skunked too (sort-of)...Never saw one grouse, but we did put some fresh venison in the cooler! This was the only pic I took all day long - ran across this lone shepherd on horseback with a couple white pyranese herding sheep to the watering hole on Nat'l Forest land, a beautiful pastoral scene (albeit my random photography is not nearly as good as yours)...
Don't bother going where I told you about...No wonder there weren't any grouse, I had no idea there were so many grouse hunters in the world (& seemingly all converged in one spot)! Lesson learned - NEVER go grouse hunting anywhere near a major vacation destination on Labor Day Wknd!!!
Sorry for the snafu, me trying to do too way many things all at one time - you & I will catch up on the flip-flop real soon! I'm still waitin on the rest of the story behind that nickname...
Roger, sorry it didn't work out. I would of done the same as you though. I am glad your boy got his doe and you got to see some new country. The Beetle kill makes me sick, but Ma Nature has the Master plan!!!! We will get together soon!!!!!:thumbsup:
@MD - LOL, know watcha mean...Both the dog & I have been really close a time or two, but so far (knock on wood) I have only been a witness to someone else or their dog gettin juiced!
@goldeneye - Yeah, ANY day spent in the mtns is a good one to me & this one was a particularly gorgeous, sunny one spent trouncing outback thru the aspens and pines/spruce & in the late-summer high-country wildflower meadows...Birds in the bag or not, life just doesn't get a whole lot better than that!
