Garmin Delta Upland - Problems?

Hi all, I'm looking at a G-D Upland (not the XC) and I've heard that the beeper can have problems if the beeper is not perfectly centered. Is this true? I was also wondering if the contact points are long enough for use on a GSP?

Any comments on the Upland system pro or con would be great!

Thanks so much!

Greg - I have one and it's a solid unit...except for the beeper in my opinion. It's completely separate from the stimulation/low volume tone unit on the collar - which means you have to sync them and replace batteries in the high volume beeper as it doesn't charge with the main stimulation/low volume tone unit. To be honest, I ended up completely removing the high volume beeper unit and waited for an LLBean 30% off after the Holidays sale for existing customers and bought an Alpha unit and haven't looked back. I keep the Delta for training purposes and as a back up unit in the field.

I realize the Alpha may not be for everyone, it's bigger and more complicated (to some degree) but I hunt varying cover, sometimes pretty thick CRP, heavy cattail sloughs, and quail timber so the GPS helps keep track and alerts me to points when I can't see my pup. I also have a Brittany that must think he's an English Pointer because he'll range hundreds of yards out if allowed so the GPS is helpful.

Ultimately, if you didn't need the GPS and wanted a Garmin unit (i do feel they are very well built and can double for waterfowl) I would probably get the unit without the big extra beeper unless it's just critical for you.

I just got the garmin delta, and love it. I have only had it in the field training, but it has everything you need out in the field. I choose the b,c,m so that I have everything I need set up.

Also you cannot beat the item for $199.99.

Not sure if I can post where I got it, but feel free to send me a pm and I will let you know..
