I think we've all heard a lot of people including a lot of hunting manufacturers give a whole lot of lip service to "Getting Kids Involved In Hunting" for quite a few years. Well some people have stepped up to the plate and are finally doing something about it. They are giving away free lifetime hunting licenses to kids and to active duty military personnel who are serving to protect us. It is totally free. It doesn't cost anything to register or to join. The entire program is funded by some smart manufacturers who finally realize that unless something changes, in 10 years there aren't going to be many hunters left, and when that day comes, they are going to be out of business. So they are trying to raise people's awareness about the problem and at the same time get more kids involved in hunting instead of involved in video games and dope and gangs and such.
An interesting by product of this program is that the more lifetime hunting licenses that these people purchase from the State DNR, and and then turn around and give away, the more funds the State DNR will have coming in.
In order to sign up go to www.savingourhunting.com and look for the Link to the Signup Page. They also have a way that you can visit a "Tell A Friend" page and notify all of your friends about the program. This will increase your chances of winning. Adults are encouraged to sign up and if they are chosen, they can designate which of their kids, grand kids, nieces, nephews, or just friends' kids to receive the free lifetime license. It totally free and a great cause. I hope every bowhunter gets very involved and supports it. They are also giving away some nice prizes that adults can win too. Unless Hunters support this program I'm afraid it will die and a great chance to turn things around may be lost. Its free! The least us hunters can do is to take a look!
