Franchi semi autos

Some say they're great. I used to hunt with a guy who was pretty good with his. My opinion is that they are too light and not all that dependable.

Only one way to find out. :) To me that's a little steep unless unfired. 1200 would get you another decent sxs.

Lol, they’re not for me. Simply passing along. I’ve got my eye on BSS 20 gauge sportster myself. And for some reason my Dad is on this Rem nylon 66 kick. He wants the lever action and has spent the last 2 weeks talking about them non stop.

Our group of four shot Benelli autos for year and we all suffered from jamming or incomplete cycling. This was waterfowling north of the border
where guns are put to the test with liberal limits. M1, M2, SBE all had issues. After using after market springs, issues improved. Ethos and Vinci models had no issues. Two in the group traded for Franchi Affinity and have never had cycling issues. Bye, bye Benelli.

I was just on franchis web site and they say they dont make a 28 gauge semi auto. Are these really old semi autos? Basically $600 a piece is a deal in my book. Need a lot more info though? Model number?

Looks like it must be a model 48, which they started making in 1948. Looks like they get good reviews.

I bought a franchi 48. I like it, just need to add a thin recoil pad to add a little length. Those 48 20’s and 28’s are pretty sought after. Mostly 12 gauges on gunbroker.

I have a al-48 in 20g that I bought for my wife many years ago. It has a 24" barrel and is light as a feather. Probably less than a case of ammo through it in about 30 years. I can't hit anything with it. About 10 years ago I let my then-teenage son use it for a while. It had been in safe, more-or-less unused for a long time and did not cycle well. I'm a veteran old-school A-5 user, so I'm a least a little familiar with the nuances of that action, ie, ring position, dry vs. lubed mag tube, etc. After trying a lot of things that didn't work, what ultimately solved the problem was replacing a couple of the parts that slide onto the magazine tube. He graduated to something else after a couple years and now it's back to a safe queen. If it's ever going to see regular use where 2nd, 3rd, etc. shots are important, it may need a new set of rings. Time will tell.

I had an I-12 I bought in college. I shot a lot of rounds through it and probably didn't take the best care of it. No complaints here.

I have 3 48 ALs. Two in 28 and one 20. Can’t say enough good about them. Never one problem. My first 28 ga Franchi is the shotgun I shoot the best. Killed my first pheasant with the 20. Great guns.
