Found the birds- pic heavy

With so many pictures I wanted to start another thread.

I took the dogs back out today and hunted an area close to home. I took the good camera along and ended up taking more pictures than shooting. I started in a different location and entered the fields from the back. I saw some birds early but with the way the wind was blowing the dogs didn't scent them.

The dogs ended up picking up the ground scent and tracked them to the woods.

There was a rooster in there.

Shortly after this flush, Blitz pointed while crossing a small stream:

It was another rooster and I took this bird. Blitz followed up with the retrieve.

When I started hunting I noticed that more corn was harvested and I was hoping that would push some of the birds I heard during deer season back to the fields. I didn't need to take any more birds today and unloaded the gun at hopes of getting more pictures. Shortly after unloading I found the dogs almost 100 yards ahead of me.

The dogs held well despite the bird moving on them.

You can see the rooster walking on the edge of the field.

It eventually settled down allowing for a close up picture or two.

The switchgrass ended up holding some more birds. It is good cover even wen bent over making the dogs hard to see.

The grass fields are the only good cover in the area and should keep the birds around for a while. They should provide good dog work for the next 3-4 months.

GREAT images!

Better in one day that I've taken in many seasons; Nice work.... Love the older dog doing its work--a lifetime of experience.

Very, very nice! That switch grass has held up nice from the snow. Those birds look nice and healthy.
I know what you mean about the camera vs. gun, I hesitate to pull the trigger this time of year.
