Found an old nest while out walking

Was walking my dogs this morning on the back part of my pasture and found some egg shells. Looks like they may have been about half the size or maybe a hair bigger than half the size of a domestic chicken egg. Suppose they were pheasant or prairie chicken? Kind of an off white color.

Whatever they were I sure hope the chicks made it!

That description matches pheasant and prairie chicken eggs.

Those eggs in the pic would have been about the same size as the shells I saw. I would imagine the sun may have bleached them more white over the summer. I can't imagine it being anything but a pheasant or prairie chicken.

Let's just pray they weren't Jayhawk eggs. The fewer of those around, the better.

Whichever species it was, it's pretty cool that they're producing chicks on your land. I know you've been dreaming up/working on habitat projects. Finding a nest had to be a very rewarding experience:cheers:
