A friend of mine has a English Setter he is considering having a trainer force fetch. How many have done this and what are your results. I've never tried it so that's why the question. Thanks in advance.

it's not for everyone, if he is considering a trainer, he may already know this..
Smart Fetch is a good tool for do it yourself.

FF is no longer is the elephant in the room that some people make it out to be. But at the same time it isn't for "beginners". All though we all have to start somewhere I guess. A softer kinder world may call it a "Conditioned Retreive"

In the retreiver competion and hunt test world all upper level dogs are FF.

FF is a much more than a conditioned retreive! It teaches the dog how to turn pressure off. I have FF'ed a viszala, GS, chessies, and labs. It doesn't matter the breed just the individual dogs personality and it takes however long it takes.
I will always FF my dogs, I feel it's a necessity to achive my goals

If your freind chooses to do it on his own, I would recommend having some one experienced help him through it the first time
IMHO Smart works is a good product but probably poorly suited to a pointer guy
