Just thought I would post some footage from my recent Dusky grouse hunting trip in Colorado. If you ever get a chance to hunt Dusky ”Blues” do it!

My buddy and I each got two opening day above (north) of Blue Mesa reservoir.
 
We hunted Tuesday, Saturday and Monday. Saw lots of birds each time out. Went boating on the Blue Mesa on Sunday. Weather was almost too hot, but that is about to change!
 
Bird numbers seem to be pretty good this year. I was at Blue Mesa at the end of July and caught a ton of perch
 
Where did you go? I walked all over California Park north of Steamboat and didn’t see a one. Food looked really scarce as well as it was so dry out there. I keep wondering if they’ve gone to higher elevation earlier than usual.
 
Gunnison County is about 5 hours south of Steamboat. Have seen them consistently from 8800 - 10800 feet. Look for the Currant bushes, open parks with pine trees. Pretend you are Elk hunting.
