Flooding

Cental Ks had a fantastic wheat harvest in many areas this year. These same areas have been or are now under water. Opinions on how both affected the hatch?

The kind of rain many of these areas had cannot have much of an up side. Birds in low-lying areas may have been lost. Nests that were yet to hatch probably too. I can see where we could have lost young birds due to exposure issues or even muddy feet. It is too late in the season for any additional "late attempt" nesting to add to the fall totols. We have to hope that this moisture adds to 2014.

for the most part, if the chicks made it through the wheat harvest, that means they can fly at least some what and mommy can lead them to higher grounds. ain't seen nuffing on the mail route counts yet, that should tell us something.

cheers
