Finally retrieving birds

I don't know why but my dog for some unknown reason started retrieving this season. Shes always been good at spotting and finding, but at age 4 1/2 something just clicked. I just got back from SD and she retrieved every bird and some were long range runners. Pretty happy about this. Going back out in a week so hope it continues.
 
There is no training like putting your dog on hundreds of wild birds, after you get the basic training done. Pigeon training can't hold a candle to it. I know that some of the best bird dogs in the World are riding around in the back of rancher's trucks, because they just get way more experience than most city dwellers dogs.
 
I agree. That's how I broke-in my last two dogs. Lots of bird action helped both dogs to figure out what the game is about, really quick.:thumbsup:
