Final Day, Three Shots, Two Birds

Awesome! Looks like a really fun day! Which camera? Care to share your settings? They seem about right to me. I just became the proud owner of a Hero 5 Black. Want to take it out with the dog today and break it in. I'd like to have my technique mostly figured out by the time October rolls around. Thanks!

Amazing day. Hero 4. Standard settings as don't know how to make it any better. Echo has 2 sensational retrieves. First one is too far to capture. I am jealous of your 5. I need to see the differences. The key is to get 6 batteries and a 64gb SD card. You also have to turn the camera on:) I missed many great shots because of that.

I have the hero 4 and use 1080/60/medium. Yes extra batteries are necessary, I have three and have camera set up for one touch recording.

Thanks guys. I didn't make it out to play with my camera. Based on research, I was going to try 1080/60/medium too. Have extra battery & 64 GB card. The 5 obviously has 1-touch recording, but it also has built in voice recognition, which seems to work well in my living room. It'll be interesting to see how well it works outdoors.

the phone app works well to via Bluetooth but it does drain the battery more quickly.

The phone app has battery save mode. SO when the camera isnt rolling it shouldnt wear it down. The phone also tells you when the battery is about toast.

Awesome! Sounds like a great day.

Just curious, how long does 1 battery generally last when filming?

It is somewhat variable depending on if you have your wifi on but I would say from 45 to 90 minutes. The video segments are broken into 17 minute videos (Hero4 Silver), I'm guessing to make it easier to download to your computer. Weather will also play a factor. Carry spares with you and have a charger in the truck so you can charge between fields or while in the field.

Ditto. Brought home a pheasant and a quail. With this mild winter so far, bird numbers should be up again next year.
