Filson's pants

Anyone use Filson's single tin oiled pants in the field? I hate the fact that my brush pants leave the backs of my leg/ knees wet when walking through tall, wet grass and thought these pants might do a little better for me. Any reviews on them?

I have a pair of Filson not sure if it's that model. If you keep them well waxed/oiled they are more waterproof than any pants I've wore. Due to the nature of the material I have to wear something between them and skin and it has to somewhat cold for that. Not the pants I wear the most but when it's wet,and cold they are worth the price.

I think Filson pants are great. If you hunt when it's warm, get the single tin pants. If cold, double tin...they are impenetrable. They last forever but take some getting used to the feel of them, but they gain character with use and age and you'll learn to really like them.

Wet snow and wet weeds...what to wear?

I use rain pants over the lightest pants I can buy. Even this combination can be too hot. My legs seem to sweat so I go light.

There are waterproof hunting pants - I don't own a pair, but assume they would be very warm, especially early in the (SD) season. Seems to be a bit of a balance between staying dry and being too hot, with certain hunting pants or chaps.

Those Filson Tincloth pants are hot and designed for timbering. Maybe a better option would be pants with a Gortex lining or other waterproof membrane.
