National Bobwhite Iniative is reporting the U.S. house budget committee is recommending the complete defunding USDA contributions toward the Federal open water-open lands-WIHA programs, as well as severe reductions to EQIP, WHIP, and all other USDA conservation programs, a 1 billion dollar bite from funds used to provide for wildlife at the source. This is apposed by all of the national wildlife organizations, write your congressmen and women. This could put us back in the conservation dark ages.

The basics of proposals and the response letter to the budget committee is on the National Quail Initiative web site, which is a consortium of state DNR's chartered to rebuild the quail population nationwide. Just search National Quail Initiative.
