Fed HV 16 GA Upland Load

I have been using the RIO 16 GA load with 1 1/8 oz #6 shot at 1300 fps with great results (I/C over I/C) the last two years, but noticed on the Federal website about a new 16 GA "Upland Load" with 1 1/8 oz shot at 1425 fps. I know we have all these new "wonder magic powders" but this looked like a misprint. However, a good friend sent me a few boxes and they actually say 1425 fps on the label. I have used some high-velocity loads before that didn't pattern real well, but unless these things throw bad patterns they should be real ringneck slayers!

Federal made the 16 ga. Wing-Shok High Velocity Pheasant Forever loads last year also. Never did try them as they were hard to find and if you did the price was north of $20.

I'm sure they are some good loads, but at 1,425 fps in a light weight 16 the recoil could be an issue.

I have never put them on paper yet, but I used them last year in SD with really great success. Here in Ohio we have to go to preserves for any good pheasant hunting, then I just use a standard 16ga. hunting load.
