EP pheasant dog lines

You'll likely get a variety of answers to that question. I'd probably recommend Elhew lines as they have a reputation of being a little closer-working than many other lines. Some of the northern ruffed grouse lines might also be good candidates. I've had four pointers, and it took them a few years to make the adjustment to staying in closer for pheasants after running big while hunting prairie grouse for a month or so before pheasant season opened. They all eventually figured it out and I had a couple that were very good on pheasants. One was a Honkytonk / Rebel bred dog, another was Guardrail / Blackhawk. I have a new pup out of Blackhawk and Elhew breeding that I'm pretty excited about.

Where do you live? I might be able to recommend some breeder close to you.
