Hi,

We have a litter of English cockers for sale that were born January 20,2013. The litter consists of 7 dogs, 5 female and 2 male, with one liver male. These pups come from Field stock and will make great hunting companions.

For more information and videos of this litter please visit: http://huntgreenacres.com/available-puppies-litters/

If you would like to reserve one of these pups please call 217-395-2588 or visit our website huntgreenacres.com

Thank you

Do you have health clearances for hips/eyes (OFA/CERF) on the sire and dam of this litter??

NB

Natty,

We do not have the OFA/CERF certifications for the sire and dam because English Cocker Spaniels are not known for hip and eye issues. Both the sire and dam are direct imports from England. To see the full pedigree please visit this litter's page on our website, http://huntgreenacres.com/available-puppies-litters/

Thanks

I understand that hip and eye problems may be more rare in ECS's than other breeds, but it seems if you are breeding these dogs that it would be prudent to have the tests done so that in the rare event you have a dog with a problem that dog isn't bred and the defect carried on in the offspring.

George's comments are "spot on". Heritable hip dysplasia and various eye genetic diseases (progressive retinal dysplasia, premature cataracts, retinal folds, etc) are relatively uncommon in fieldbred English Cocker Spaniels but they do exist in FBECS. These genetic diseases can only be kept in check by selecting breeding stock from sires/dams that are proven clear via OFA/CERF certifications. Quality breeders do this. The same is true for all hunting breeds.
