Emporia area

Has anyone hunted around the Emporia area this year or have any advice? I've never hunted this part of KS before but a friend of a friend owns some ground in the area. Quail season is over here in Missouri so I figured I would take the dogs west and get out one last time this year.
 
If you have private ground by Emporia, I would definitely start there. Everywhere is a bit of a crap shoot, IMO. Never hunted specifically by emporia, but have found quail an hour from there in all directions in the past.
 
If you hunt west of Emporia you may get lucky and shoot a rooster or two as well as quail. I have a friend near Americus that shoots a few roosters every year.
