Emergency extension of the pheasant season

I wonder if the GF&P's could recommend to the SD Game and Fish Commision to extend the pheasant season until Jan 31, 2010 in light of the low expected pheasant harvest due to the late harvesting of crops this year?

Good idea, landman. But don't hold your breath knowing how the commission has functioned in the past.

No that would mean more birds huddled up in shelter belts which means more road hunters shooting to close to buildings and livestock.

how about 5 or 6 birds?
better to go to hunters than the coyotes or winter kill.
Their excuse is more tourism but most guys won't come up after the first 2 weeks anyway.

The weather is too unpredictable in January. I would come in January if drive was around 8 or 10 hours not 20.

Not all of us have a two page list of widowed farm ladies. I hear sometimes they keep the birds tied up for you. Some of us have to do it the old fashion way a do a little mushing every now and then.

5 or 6 birds would definitely get more people to hunt late November and December, me for sure.

When you shoot as well as I do a three bird limit "with all the birds" is no longer a challenge. :laugh:
