Cal, looks like cracks to me. Have you heard the ice boom on a big lake like that? It is cracking and booming as it freezes.
50 degrees today and 50 mph winds at the lake, danged if I would be on that ice. I'm as far N as the ft Peck lake here in MN. Our weather is different, we don't get those "Chinooks" here. And usually a lot more precip, especially snow. Big problem a year ago in MT there were NO Chinooks, no thawing weather from Nov - March with heavy snowfall. Very unusual.
This Winter out there is more the norm.
