new first

but then things that are new I guess are first. anyway, I shot a high flying dove the other day and it hit the ground the same time a hawk did, guess the hawk thought I shot it breakfast but my no hokum divot scared him off his free meal, I got the dove, divot got to have cocktails with me when we got home

Musti I have had owls try this on me. LOL

shooting in the rain

went this morning, weather was supposed to wait at least a few hours. got into a tree line that the dove seemed to like, but then is was pouring out. I found it very hard work shooting at and hitting dove in the rain, finally took off my glasses but then that created another problem. anyway got 10 for 30 shots, by far the worse I have done in quite some time but then I have the rain to blame it on or maybe the new Italian shells I was shooting. bet this ends the season as I think the n.e. Colorado will get snow my morning

cheers

Feels more like snow then rain. It is flat out chilly outside. In the 40's with a good breeze out of the East. Gonna have to get the long pants out!!! You are going to have a mess of Doves to cook up!!!

side the road

while dove hunting this morning I saw two roosters walking side the road. in a really really good year in this area you could hunt for a week with ten dogs and never see a bird. just goes to show that this year they are all over the place

cheers

I may go out in the snow in the morning.... Catch them all flocked up!!!lol:D

Went dove hunting south of Longmont last night and was surprised with the numbers. Looks like some birds from up north stopped in over the past few days. I don't keep track usually but last night was one of the better dove shoots I've had with 11 birds harvested in 14 shots.

I always keep track, just fun, that's all. went out this morning, east on 34 at one time I was 6/6 then 7/8, then 9/12 and then I got in that other groove and ended up at 15/30. saw quite a few, spooky, but at least saw some and was fun. glad ya had a good hunt

cheers

I have seen some newer actual flocks down here around Colorado Springs. In fact, I was out at the new shooting range right near Ft. Carson, but you don't have to go through the gate to get there. I was sighting in my rifle and my buddy was shooting his new 7MM. Anyhew, saw some flocks flying around and the guys at the range said that they had shown up just over the weekend (we were shooting Sunday morning before the games).

Now I am trying to figure out if I want to go out and shoot dove on Saturday morning or chase grouse :confused::confused:

So far this year we are 0 for 1 on the grouse (meaning we didn't see any):mad:

lost em'

went out this morning, while I did shoot quite a few birds, most had left the several areas I hunt, from yesterday, bet the drop was 80% fewer

cheers
