Dove Opener?

Anyone going out for Dove Opener? or at all this Dove season before waterfowl starts? I am trying to get out a few times..check out a few areas. If anyone is going and wants to join up let me know.
 
I will be getting as much as I can. Usually just walk the dog around a wheat field and shoot them flushing. More practice for pheasant hunting than anything. Would like to try the decoying thing have heard they come in good to a spinning wing.
 
i think i will be heading out with my SM for some early goose hunting for the metro opener i may just tag along & let my dog get in on some water retrieves??? i kinda gave up waterfowl not much action for my party these last few yrs???

im also planing on doing the walk around type dove hunting someplace as i cant stand just sit n & wait n for birds to fly by or decoy in i guess thats why im not huge on waterfowl any longer unless its kinda jump shooting... i would want to get my dog on some flushing dove action if any body is having luck & would want a tag along with a young dog that love to retrieve just let me know lonerooster

I am am a big dove hunter (and waterfowl of course) from VA and we always dove hunt to warm up for the waterfowl season. I typically sit along the edge of a field or power line in the afternoon/ evening and wait for them to trickle in. I have a well trained 3 year old black lab I use.

As I said I am from VA, and just moved to Minneapolis a month ago. I am going to go scout some places out on Saturday and would be interested in possible joining you.

What general area's do you typically explore?
 
I'll take the pups out, walk the pastures, some oat stubble,shoot up a box or two.

Dove hunting is big here in Texas I think bigger than Xmas . We hunt in the morning on opener and all meet up at my farm for lunch. Than sorta rest up for the evening hunt. We try to do that several more days that week.
 
we dont have any wear near the amount of doves as you guys down in texas sallysue but we do have some but we dont get the same amount of shooting in as yall do...

how do you eat them sallysue??? make popers??? dove breasts with cream cheese & jalapeno rapped in bacon & bbq sauce??? thats what i will be doing if i bag any???

i like to walk the doves up not just sit & wait so i will only have a couple i assume lol

get n the young dog out on early geese & doves come saterday & sunday cant wait man she will have a blast!!!
 
Going dove hunting on opener here in Ky. leaving my lab at home for 2 reasons running him in HRC hunt test the next week and the temp of 90* plus
Be very VERY careful with your dogs in this hot weather
