Anybody have any info on this Dogtra collar 3502NCP Super-X , I have been using the 1900 and really like it but am acquiring an additional dog. Wondering if it is worth the extra hundred dollars, I am hunting with Labs so I don't know if I need the mile range?

I have the same collar except single dog. It is the most solidly built collar I have put my hands on. It also charges quickly and battery life is about 3 weeks. I use my collar almost daily but Rarely give corrections. Is it worth the extra $100 to you? I don't know. It's a damn nice collar though!
Ps I have a Tritronocs pro 550, and a sport dog 1825 (2 dog). The dogtra is the go to if I could only have one

Steve,

Thanks, If I can squeeze it into an already tight budget I am going to make the move. Two dogs is going to be a fun challenge but once I get them clicking together, I hope to increase the amount of birds I see and recover all downed birds(you have to have a goal!)

What is it that you dont like about the 550?

I never said I didn't like the 550. It is a very nice training collar, but is not well suited for upland hunting. Where as the Sport dog is a nice hunting collar but not durable enough for every day use. The dogtra does a very nice job of both and is durable as a farmers anvil.

As a sidenote I would say that Garman going from a 1 inch width collar to 3/4" was foolish. Also the charging cord configuration is rather chintzy for a $500 collar

When you say that a collar isnt your "go to" collar than thet implies there is something you dont like.

What makes it not suitable for upland hunting?

The 550 is a "tube" type transmitter, while this is great for training....(ambidextrous and can be held with a healing stick at the same time) it doesn't allow for a belt clip. Just putting a $400 transmitter in my pocket is to risky for me, landyards allow the transmitter to swing and bang around. Maybe a holster would work but for me they seem inconveint. Also the button and switch configuration is not compatible with big fingers and thick gloves. One of the 550's best training features is the non linear intensity (ie a high 3 nick has more intensity than a low 4) is tricky in the field (and for force to pile or water force). The Pro 550 is designed for professional/serious amateurs trainers, not for field work.
None of this can be construed as dislikes, I am a firm believer in using the best tool for the job. But if I had to spend my own money I would Probably only own 1 collar. Hands down it would be Dogtra!

Thanks for the input.

I have been using TT for 12 years. I have the 200 right now. It actually has the tube type remote and I use it while I hunt with no issues. But I have a holster with a shoulder strap. This may make the difference.

My only complaint would be that you have to keep an eye on your setting before you knick a dog as it can be changed easily by brush.

But, with TT doing the switcharoo, I am not sure how much longer I will be able to use my equipment. I keep an eye out on forums for used equipment for sale as I do not like change.

Thus, my questions to you. I have been thinking about switching to Dogtra ecollars, but it is hard for me to do. SO I wanted to see how people feel about Dogtra.

I am currently switching my Launcher equipment to Dogtra.

Anyway. Thanks for your input.
