Dog Starting Heat Cycle - Bring for SD Opener ?

You're so nice to ask what to do in your situation. I'm sure you're a boon hunter afield.

A contrast from you from a hunt I was on once: Dude shows up and per usual immediately turns loose his three untrained, unmanageable GSPs. Then he announces to us other hunters: "My dogs have ringworm so you better keep your dogs away from them." Wonderful.

If you asked your vet if you could neuter a female they would look at you like you were missing a few marbles.

My buddy’s female started going in heat the start of a long weekend. First day she just growled and nipped at my male. They were fine when hunting far apart but by day three, when looking for downed birds close together they started playing grab ass. Made me think of this thread. Many more days could’ve got real annoying

Castration is male neutering and spaying is female neutering. I have performed thousands of each, DVM Class of 1979 U of Minnesota
I will ask the guy in the mirror and no marbles missing.
I don't own a dog but am interested in getting one in the future. There is a school of thought never get a dog spayed or neutered unless it's medically necessary . There's another school of thought that for first time owners its easier to train a female dog then a male dog and female dog's prefer male owners vs male dogs prefer female owners.
Dog training appears to be akin to theological debates on training protocols and proper canine nutrition is another complex theological type debate. So being a new dog owner in the 21st Century is apparently complicated.

I think you are overthinking this.

Maybe Woke individuals don't care for the C word so neutered is now "the proper word" for a male that is no longer intact.
That's exactly what I was thinking about Gim's comment. I bet he's an old white guy, probably even a boomer:LOL:
