Dog Friendly

dogs can be dogs

I have stayed in hotels in ND both places allow dogs. Only in crates in the room. I believe that is the way it should be. I saw the 2 hunters in the room next to me get kicked out. Their dogs started barking while they were out eating and the manager went to the bar next door got the men and opened the door to the room and the dogs were loose running all over *&^% tore up some bedding. There you go! you don't have to wonder why for long.
3 of us bought a house in ND. I rent it out and also allow dogs in the 2 porches of the house in crates only. My dogs are crated and I own the place.
The guy with the insurance paper I would say ...Wow that's nice I would get it framed. Now go find another place to stay! :D

hmmmmm.. must be a ND thing.. ;) The way we hunt in KS, those dogs would/should be too tired to bark :p
I understand your sentiments Laz', and agree. Uncouth and unruly dogs are no less a detriment to 'dog friendly' accommodations, than uncouth and unruly hunters are to our hunting heritage in the field. It doesn't take many "bad apples" to ruin the entire basket.
I wouldn't hesitate to post a "deposit" on my dogs. Maybe that a reasonable, feasible answer?..

Hey Grouchy your right!

About hunters too! I just got back from ND and someone cleaned birds out in the field .Left trash with feathers and rubber gloves behind.
Don't we look good now!
About a dog fee..... thinking about it.... no. maybe they would feel that would give them the right to let dogs roam free.... Just a thought....
Good hunting to you!!!!

For those that have trained dogs that do not require crates, then it is nice to have free reign. I stayed at a place in ND and nothing bad happened imagine that. My dogs live in my house and go where I go. Those are the outfitters or motels I go to. If you don't have trained dogs or take the time I can see why you would feel that way.

Thanks addict, I should I guess look at all cases first then choose. I do not know anybody that stays at my place when I am not there. I haven't had any major problems yet. Just a few small ones which is my learning curve for next time.
And you said it without saying it...... It is not the dogs it's the owners:thumbsup:

+1 This is my experienced I have been to ND and KS and my dogs have always been in my rooms, one place wanted it in a crate, I used a flexible fold up one, some hotels charge you a little extra for dogs in the room. I have stayed at rented houses and a apartment turned into a lodge and they all let you bring your dog in. My dogs are house dogs and they behave, but I wouldn't leave them alone in a room even in crates if it was late just in case they did bark, I would put them in the truck. I would be very hesitate to hunt anywhere my dogs had to stay outside.
