Dog Crate

Labs......I would think single digits, low teens he might start getting a little uncomfortable. With bedding a little colder.

It depends on preparation.

I have Setters so there is a little help from the long hair but I also have the bottom of the crate lined with the perforated anti-fatigue matt which allows water to drain to the bottom of the crate. I put a ground pad under the crate in the bed of the pickup to help insulate. Back inside the crate on top of the anti fatigue matt, I have one of the egg carton foam beds covered with a quarter bail of the cedar ribbons. My dogs are small so I put two to a crate. I have the insulated crate cover from Bass Pro and if it's in the single digits I cover the boxes with a blanket and a waterproof tarp. My wife helps me dry the dogs off when we get back to the pickup after a hunt that way we don't let them get in the crate soaking wet. I like doing this because this way I don't have to load them into a cold dog box in the morning after they have slept in a warm motel room all night. I like to hunt with a pair of dogs and if I remember to hunt one from each box it leaves a dog in each crate to keep it warm while we are hunting. It looks like the Beverly Hillbillies' hunting rig but it seems to work.
