Detroit and Pheasants

Have spent quite a few days drifting the Detroit River walleye fishing listening to roosters cackle on the various islands. Wonder how many of these Detroit city birds come back and forth from one of the islands vs being full time, tax paying Detroit residents?? Just a curious thought.

tax paying Detroit residents??

Careful. We don't need to give the politicians any ideas:D

I've posted this video (link below) in the past. Looking at his size and the way he runs (heavy fully matured bird), I'd guess this wild "Detroit" rooster is about 3-4 years old.

They are surviving out there:confused:

Get there between April 7 and the 17th and it is tough to beat. 2 years ago our biggest was 32" and 14.5 lbs. quite the pig. Put one right at 10 lbs in about 2 minutes later and it looked small!! This year it was crazy how many 9 lb and up fish we saw but never got any real pigs.

If you make it out let me know and would be glad to give you some info.

You lost me at 14.5#

Sorry for the hi jack but here are couple pics. First with my buddy holding it and then against the 32" measuring board.

Wow...my best is 9.5#. Can tell I need a 14# badly

Anything in the teens is a true brute in my book and pretty rare. I live close to The best fishery in the U.S. In my opinion(Erie) and can count on less than 2 hands the number of legit teeners I have seen come in the boat. Having said that the Detroit is a very good place to put a 10 plus pounder on the wall for sure. Also something about jigging up those big girls. All the while hearing roosters cackle.(Had to bring this back on topic :D)
