Deadly seeds

I am not hip on that one, but you can put in what ever you want. There is a ton of different sufficient varieties. There is pure seed you can buy cheaper then most of those places offer, and just mix different ones your self. Or request it. I saved 10$ a pound on mine at least not buying there mixes. And still using premium cleaned Oats for a cover.

So about 4 weeks ago I noticed a small bump at about 4 o'clock from my new pup's peanut shooter. Initially I thought that it might be her anal gland but I had no luck in expressing her...she's too young anyways. Anyhow, ended up taking her to the vet where he lanced it and took out part of a foxtail grass seed. I was surprised to say the least. It healed back up but continued to look like an absess. Last night I squeezed it again and it popped puss everywhere. In the middle of the puss was another seed head. I have no idea how these got in there (aside from her sitting on them) but I imagine it happened when she was younger (she's 16 weeks now) and just festered in her. Crazy!

We had a big problem with tiny ones about 2 months ago. Vet says:"Puss is your friend." Hadn't heard it put that way before.

That is why I didn't go out this afternoon!! Damn field is loaded with Foxtail and doves!!!!!! Hope your pup is feeling better!!

I am a little confused can someone provide specifics on what needs to be avoided, pics would really be helpful. Thanks!

holy smokes! I just looked at that site and the pics. I cannot believe the pics of that poor dog. wow. I've pulled many of these out of Fillmore, and we've stopped going to one of our favorite spots because the foxtails were SO bad.

Don't forget to check those paws after every time out too! I'm sure everyone knows this already though. I do this and I still missed one recently. I was wondering why she was working on her paw so intensely the other evenings... ran my fingers deep through that slobbery paw between the toes and found two all tangled in the hair. not sure how I missed them, but so glad I got finally got em.
