Day Hunt Cost

I've been looking around, more out of curiosity than anything, at various clubs and lodges across the country. In some instances, the answer is easy to find, in others it isn't.

Therefore, I thought I'd propose the question to those here.......

What do you believe the average rate is for a half-day hunt and a full-day hunt, per gun?

I am speaking of "day" hunts only. No lodging, no breakfasts or dinners, etc. Simply show up, meet your guide and his dog/s, hunt the morning and be done. Or have lunch and hunt the afternoon and be done.

I guess I am thinking of the following being included in the hunt: birds (wild or released), guide, dog, lunch, beverages, bird cleaning and packaging.

Curious to see your answers!

In Minnesota there are not many day hunt operations on Wild Birds. I am familiar with two via the internet (never been there though). Fees run about $100 / day.

Preserves are relatively plentiful in MN and they charge about $16 - $22 per bird. A few release roosters only. Cover types very tremendously from operation to operation.

MN is farmed very intensively and as the crops come in public land hunting is rather good for small groups and solo hunters using a good dog. I average right at 2 birds/day over the course of the season on my solo hunts.

Regarding the guide, cleaning/packaging of game, extras ... there maybe one or two outfits doing such hunts, but I have never looked into this.

Where do you live? I can help with your question if you are interested in Mn hunting.

I'm in Wisconsin.

I think I started this project from being bored one day. I was thinking $400 a day, per gun would be an average. But, may be this is high. Included in that would be a full day hunt, guide, dog, lunch, bird cleaning and packaging.

Suggest you "Google" : Hunting /shooting preserves, MN. Lots of choices. Some sites will offer no charge for a one-day trial.

I personally visit Major Ave. Hunt Club, Glencoe, Mn. Topography is similar to SD alone with food plots. Great facility to train a dog!

The fees charged generally depend on how many birds you wish to have planted/released...

Good Luck.

Guided SD day hunts appear to run from $200/day to over $450/day without lodging. Buyer beware.
