Cut Dog Pad

I would guess this has been discussed already but I couldnt find it with the search bar. My young dog has a cut on the pad on his front foot. Not sure if it came from a coon or a sharp rock. Maybe 1/3 inch long and limps on it when on a hard surface. I bought boots Ill try on that foot but wondering if any of you have the magic answer to a quick recovery for this?

Clean out with sterile water. Trim back any dead edges. Then antibiotic cream. Telfa pad over cream. Get 2” adhesive tape. One strip from back of foot to front of the foot, covering the nails. Next strip left to right covering the nails. Then tape around the foot to hold all together. Change every other day or if wet. At least two bandage changes. On with the hunt. Keep from chewing.

Agreed with Wind River. My oldest got cut up chasing a crippled on shale rock this fall. Brutal pain…..

I bought some boots and put just the one on. Duck tape it on fairly tight without cutting circulation and looking good.

Epson salts. Soak a rag and drip, wipe, soak twice a day for 10 minutes. About the third day you will notice it starting to dry up.
