Cold fingers alert, north central SD weekend of 1/18-1/19

Slight change in the forecast.

Friday will be 31 degrees at 10 AM, but 26 mph wind. 17 windchill.

Saturday will be 5 degrees at 10 AM, 15 mph wind. -13 windchill. Better than the forecasted a few days ago.

Sunday will be -7 degrees at 10 AM, 12 mph wind. -26 windchill. So much better than the -27 windchill they originally predicted. :(

Anyone looking to go out Monday should know that it is forecasted to be -12, with 17 mph wind, for a windchill of -36, at 10 AM. But if you sleep in until 3 PM, it is only -26 windchill.

I'll be out, but dog gets left at cabin in front of the fireplace i assume. I'll be under battery power and temporary heat..

I do plan an all out assault the following weekend though..

Ace & I did. Thumbs down on the wind. Thumbs up on all Caddyshack references. I'm sure we'll end up out there tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see how much time we spend outside the truck.
Late November, a SD farmer actually told me I should put Honey in the ditch and drive along side her on the road, shooting birds that get up out the window. So I guess that is one technique to avoid the cold. Sorry to give away techniques, if that's your secret weapon, @A5 Sweet 16 . ;)

Back in the 1950s, my dad & grandpa witnessed my great uncle shoot a true double out the window. Both birds were flying! And Uncle Mert....was driving!! As in, about 30 mph down the road! Not stopped!

As of 11:30 PM, Google + my windchill calculator says it will be -26 windchill at 10 AM and -22 windchill at 11 am. Only 4 degrees difference, but I'm tempted to wait until 11 am to start. -19 windchill at noon.

I have a 6+ hour drive back tomorrow, or I would definitely start later.

Those birds should be holding tight in thick cattails.

-30 windchill at 10 AM if the wind gusts from 13 mph to 20 mph.

Good luck to anyone venturing out today!
