Wondering if anyone has some sugestions to decrease colar wear on my dogs neck. My dog has a bare spot on her neck from her shock colar I have hunted her for 2 years and this is the first time it has happend. Kinda weird but I dont want it to continue. My dog only wears her color when hunting.

try making the callar a little tighter sometimes if they are to loose they will move and irritate the area

is it wearing wear the prongs make contact? or the whole neck where rubber collar comes in contact?

That is best cured by training for control with out the collar. It is the only way. You use it all the time you will have rash neck. People become too dependant on them. And the sore neck is the result. It will get so bad as to form scabs and hard bumps.

Make sure its tight. You can also cut the toes out of a sock, wet it and make sure it covers the prongs. I don't have this problem but train with somone who does. this seems to help.

Its from the rubber colar not the prongs.

FCSpringer,
I 100% agree we are always working to the goal of not wearing a colar. She still has a lot of pup in her and the tone function is a lot quieter than me whistling or talking to her.

DMA,
I will have to try the toe of the sock idea that sounds like it could be the answer for now.

Thanks everyone for the help:cheers:

If I had to go to a tone / buzzer only I can. My two dogs before this did not wear colars. Do or have I had to shock her yes of course. Can I figure out a way to hunt her with out the shock function? Yes its just going to take some time. She is a great bird dog with a super strong drive to hunt. Where there is a will there is a way. Just going to take more time and work but thats half the fun.

I also called sport dog and they said if I remove the barbs the colar will not be water proof. :(
