Got Fillmore out on Monday and we hunted hard, probably a bit too hard for her first day of the season. Little gal got torn up pretty good. I trimmed her ears, tail and feathers a couple days before which helped a lot. Biggest problem is her armpits (legpits?) up front. She's got missing hair now, torn skin, puss spots, you name it. Anybody have any good suggestions on how to help these spots heal and minimize issues in the future?

she's just now getting back to normal (thursday), but still licking like crazy. the wounds don't look that great either and she still seems like she's got a bit of of discomfort. any tips are appreciated.

You can put some neosporin on her. That will help it heal faster and some types have pain/itch relieving stuff in it. Don't over do it...doesn't take much. Try to keep her from licking it. I had a similar situation one of my dogs and I put neosporin on and wrapped with ace bandage so he wouldn't lick it. He seemed much more comfortable and it was healed pretty well in a couple days.

thanks. I'll try that. trying to keep her from licking is tough. Might have to go the cone of shame might route.

I like EMT Gel or Spray. Helps the dogs heal faster and does not taste good so the dogs wont lick it. I use it all the time to help with cuts and sore spots.
