I would love to. Unfortunately, I am chaperoning the Junction City Marching Band to Memphis to attend the Liberty Bowl. Good luck!!

Thrasher, I would really like to see Molly work some time . She sounds like a heck of a dog and a lot of fun!

Enjoy the trip to Memphis.

Me and my two boys(10, 14) are planning on heading west on the 26th. We have no specific destination or timetable. IM me your phone # if you are interested and we'll see what we can work out.

My wife is teaching at the high school. I will be certified to teach after I student teach starting in January. The trip should be interesting!

Interesting. What does she teach? Shoot me a PM if you want. I teach at the Alternative School just down the road...

Went out yesterday. Cover was good. Dog worked alright. Birds were there. Not enough shot for bragging rights.:)

Nice looking field and pics! Looks like fun. If weather holds cold, would like to do a trip late. Maybe around MLK day. I still have some vacation left, but I don't think I can take anymore for awhile.

I was also out on New Year's Day in the central part of the state. It was only for a couple of hours so I had to stay pretty close. It was just me and the dog. I'm happy to say that I saw far more pheasants than I expected and a covey of quail too. I spent all my time on one 80 acre field. The snow was not quite deep enough to prevent them from running, but i think it slowed them down at least a little.

The dog had two nice points, one of which was a rooster that I was able to kill. The spurs on that bird were longer than any I've ever seen. It's first wild rooster I've solo-killed this year and it felt great. Even more encouraging was the number of hens that I saw.

That works for me Tom. Snow could slow me down. I'll need to push it.

I'm looking for Buddy to light a fire under Chip's rear end. He's been a little bit lazy!

I'll be pretty flexible towards the end of the month. I have a bunch of sick time so I could see the pheasent flu coming:). I used to do the snow thing back a few years when I had my own consruction company. Always seemed to snow on christmas, or kids birthday's. My wife was always pissed. Who am I kidding I think she was mad the first ten or twelve years we were married. I finally have worn her down the last five or so:D. Buddy really did well this year. I had the opportunity to go to sd three times. He had a ton of bird contact, hens and roosters with many retrieves. Hope we can get out, that cover looked good. I love the snow, at least you can see if anything is around. Gives you hope.

Thanks for taking the camera and sharing the pics with us. I am very impressed you managed to take a pic of a live rooster in the first one. I've taken some pics of pointed hens before, but never a rooster. There's no shudder click for the roosters, just the click of my safety coming off.:D

It was a ditch rooster. There were two more in there, all I got was blur. Not enough light. Watched a few others cross the road right in front of me. Literally right into the spot I planned on starting at. Somebody else beat me to it. He was about 200 yds. out in the field. Probably should have jumped out and capped em.:D
