Can tracking drills effect steadiness on point

Im working on getting the pup steady on point. Im using the laumchers to do this. To break up training days and not repeating the same things every day would it be ok to start on some tracking drill (scenting up an area then dragging dead bird 50 to 100 yards away) for NAVHDA test. Any thoughts

Should be ok to do a track or two but don't over do it!!!
The pup should be on leash up to the point the track starts, leave a few feathers on the ground at the start and then give the dog a command to start the track (I use dead bird).
I never did a drag with my pup prior to running his N/A test. I just took him down by the river, where there were geese breeding (you need an area with tall grass) I could see the geese and would work him into there scent, they would lead him away from the nest and supply him with a good track.
I would only do this a couple of times prior to the test.
Best of luck
