Camera catches mountain lion near Vermillion

Those things are showing up all over the place. We bumped into some mt. loin tracks 45 minutes from Mitchel SD back in 2010. The tracks were huge:eek:

Not far from where I live (IL) a friends neighbor's horse got ripped up pretty good by one. He caught a pic on his trail cam a few years ago. Don't know if it's still in that area.

Black Hills Lion season count was 57 as of yesterday.25 males,34 females. With a quota of 70,or 50 females, whichever occurs first. That's a pretty good take for a little over million acre area.

Found a track 1 mile east and .5 miles north of Platte 2 years ago at an old dugout.

I live in the Black Hills and have had them in my back yard several times. Want an exiperence have one growl at you from 50 yards away while walking to your truck at 5 am in the dark--really gets your attention:eek:

Have never heard of them being around mitchell before??? Did read a article about a wolf being shot by woonsocket last year, kinda makes ya think about some of those big coyotes you see?? if they are really a coyote?

The Jim river drainage is perfect cat habitat. No surprise there.

I have trail cam pics of a female that woke us at the cabin when she gutted a whitetail fawn in the driveway then was trying to get her kitten to finish. She finally killed the fawn, drug it through a culvert under a paved highway and stashed it by the creek. That's where we set the camera.

There is currently a case in Harding Co where a cowboy shot a cat that his border collie treed while working cows.He had a license and was on his own lease land but shot the cat with an illegal caliber. He wants the cat.GFP won't give it up.
