Meadowman....where in pa you from. I've been huntin western is since 1993. I'm from SE Pa

Can't speak for western KS, but I'm observing a bumper crop of cottontails in NE Kansas. I'm crossing my fingers for good quail and pheasant numbers in the area you asked about. Good luck to you.

We hunt within 50 miles or so of Smith Center. We usually see tons of rabbits. Look for old fallen down grain bins and farm structures. Also the walk in areas that have woody underbrush that look like good places to deer hunt. These types of areas are usually loaded.
