Got my food plots in on 7/5....my buddy used buck n cock...should be OK I would think...think that is about a 75 day cycle? Milo or sorghum and cane, I believe...had good moisture this spring/early summer, they had a tough time getting in to my field to disk. Was out there around 6/21....lush cover! Not to jinx things, but I think the conditions have been pretty good thus far...we'll see!

PF mix

We planted blizzard buster and the winter blend on Memorial Day weekend, the stuff us close to knee high. I think we planted it a little to heavy and concerned as things are drying up some. Our soil is sandier than most so need more mosture to keep it thick. We did plant some corn on the edges, and it looks terrible, Went back over in the early hours and discovered that the deer come out of the tree cover and walk down the rows eating the corn... At least I know the corn was good seed...

Just returned from South Dakota

Rained all weekend in NE South Dakota. Ground needed it and is soaked right in. I saw a total of 8 pheasants in three days. Granted the weather was poor. Most silage is cut and the corn in the field is 9 foot tall so if your walking corn for pheasants the blockers will get all the action, the walkers won't be able to see over the corn. I think the pheasants will just run, due to the corn being so tall and planted so close together. Sloughs look good with good cover. Sorgum and Coche weeds all had seeds on them so the birds should have plenty of feed. Soybean fields that were harvested had a lot of beans on the ground. Just my 2 Cents. Happy Hunting
