I've shot a couple like that. And every once in awhile, one with even more subtle color variations. But for the most part, they all look real similar. No melanistic, leucistic, albino, or other mutant weirdos, which are almost always pen reared. I've seen hundreds & hundreds of thousands of wild pheasants in my life & have seen a grand total of ONE anomaly, a partially white pheasant. One. It was many years ago, I don't recall where, & I guess there's no guarantee he was wild, in fact probably not. Otherwise, every single pheasant I've seen has looked like a Chinese Ringneck.
When I had shorthairs, one of them had zero fears. We hunted some private land that bordered on a pasture that the local vet raised bison on. That dog had no issues challenging those huge monsters. They never broke through the fence but always worried they would.
