Anyone care to share bird numbers in a 100 mile radius of Holdrege, looking for plan be if weather an snow keep me from SD. I have hunted this area in previous years with moderate success, not looking for spots just potential for bird contact for young dogs. Generally better for quail than pheasant depending on direction from Holdrege. Thanks in advance.

I’m sitting in Holdrege right now. Been here 3 days. I am targeting quail. I have passed on several roosters. My dog is not pleased with me. I’ve been to SD 3 times and I have more pheasants than I need already. I have had bird contact at almost every spot. It’s not SD but enough activity to make it worth while. I used to have some really good private ground but I lost it this year to many grandchildren wanted to hunt the land. I’ve been hunting Sacramento, harlen res, and jumping around the open field properties. This is my third year in a row coming down here. I hunted here a lot in the 70’s. Not the same but what is. I would say this is the best year of the 3 I’ve been coming back.
