Bird Pen for Pigeons

Hi folks,
I'm in the works of getting material together for a bird pen. For now, I will only house pigeons. With winter approaching here in Montana, I will likely not trap any until the spring as it warms. With that said I would at least like to get the pen built. Do any of you have any photos or plans I could get from you to keep these birds? Lastly, for you that have pigeons, does it require lots of work or are they fairly simple to keep fed and healthy? I did do a thread search but I couldn't find anything that discussed this. Thanks for the help.

I bought a loft plan from Lion Country and now have 23 birds in it. A little crowded but I got lazy when the raccoons kept getting in the larger pen. As for care of the birds it is real easy. I feed whole kernel corn and use a heated water dog dish in winter.

Pigeons are very easy to keep as LBD said and if you raise them in the pen from squabs or let adults nest and brood a hatch they will home to the loft. As far as loft construction goes you can go from a very simple loft to as fancy as you want. A wire floor will keep predators out and a lockable re entry door up high will keep them safe and let Len re enter the pen themselves when you fly them.

About any pen will work if it's predator proof. In winter months I enclose it with clear plastic and run a heat lamp positioned over my water. With the bottom open it still provides the air circulation needed yet keeps the water thawed and birds warmer.

Thanks Everyone

Thank you guys for the input. I bought the Scott 4x4 Universal Pigeon House Plans. It seems fairly simple to build I'll give a review of some sort for all of you to share. I did buy this from gun dog supply. The plans are 3 bucks, but the print and shipping of them were 5 or 6 bucks. Seems like these guys could just digitize them for a print off or something. Seems weird having to pay to have 3 sheets of paper shipped to you.
