Just a note to anyone considering entering their dog in the Bird Dog Parade at this year's Pheasant Fest. I entered and had my Brittany, Elle, in the Bird Dog Parade last year in Kansas City. I would never do it again unless they change their format. There were way too many dogs and it sure wasn't what I was expecting. Not only were there too many dogs but too many of the same breed. I know there were well over a dozen Brittanys. I think having so many dogs distracts from the parade and also from some of the more rare breeds that were in attendance. My suggestion to PF is to limit it to one or two dogs of each breed. Then during the parade have them come up on stage and say a little something about the breed. It was cool to see some of the more rare breeds that you never get a chance to see.
So if anyone is considering entering their dog I'm not going to say not to do it, but I would give it some serious thought. And then do you really want to have your dog with you the rest of the day in the exhibit hall? I actually took mine back to my vehicle after the parade.
